Good to know
- Only public accounts work. Posts from private accounts can't be fetched without logging in, and vidsave never asks for your password.
- If a post has several videos (a carousel), the first video is saved.
- Stories and highlights aren't supported.
- Every download is an MP4 file up to 500 MB, which plays on any phone or computer.
Questions
Can I download Instagram Stories?
- No. Stories require being logged in to Instagram, so vidsave can't fetch them.
Does the person get notified when I download their video?
- No. vidsave reads the public post the same way a browser does; Instagram doesn't notify anyone.
Is vidsave free?
- Yes. There's no sign-up, no app to install and no watermark added by vidsave.
Where does the downloaded file go?
- Your browser saves it like any other download: the Downloads folder on a computer, Files on iPhone (Downloads folder) and the Downloads folder or Files app on Android. From there you can move it to your camera roll or gallery.
Is it legal to download videos?
- It depends on the video and where you live. Downloading your own uploads, or videos the creator lets you reuse, is generally fine. Re-uploading other people's videos without permission usually isn't. When in doubt, ask the creator.
